 Hi Patti here,
Well what a strange few weeks.  I woke in the early hours two weeks ago to awful pain in my foot.  Five years previously I'd had a very nasty painful blister, after several month we GP, Nurse, Dermatologist and myself had absolutely no idea of the cause.  I researched it and thought it maybe a spider bite, no said the medics, there aren't any spiders that bite in the UK.  (Look at google map for spread of spiders that bite!!)  Well, the pain lessened the site healed but was still uncomfortable.  I started calling it a snake bite as it seemed more impressive!  Well two weeks ago the blister reappeared, not quite a large as the first one but very very painful.  Two lots of antibiotic and six visits to Doctors later after consultation with two GP's (1 dermatologist) it was decided to aspirate the blister!  Oh heck I thought, or similar.  
How will I manage the pain, what will happen, will it fill up again, lots of reasonable concerns came flooding into my thoughts.  I used self Hypnosis during the night to allay my concerns but was still apprehensive as I walked, well hobbled, into the surgery.  Once again Hypnosis came to my rescue, I focussed on an area on the ceiling and I'd gone to my special place, didn't feel a thing.  The Doctor aspirated and dressed the area all pain free.  How lucky am I to have this amazing skill, well you can learn how to go to your special place when you want to.
